Bowery Bagels serves Portland’s tastiest kosher bagels, as well as delicious schmears and a full barista Stumptown setup. Bowery Bagels was created by a relocated New Yorker who wanted to recreate the high-quality bagels he grew up with. A true New York-style bagel should have a somewhat crispy exterior, a soft but not dense interior, and malty richness.
Each bagel is hand rolled to achieve these characteristics. To develop the taste and texture, the dough is fermented. Bagels are baked in small batches after a long, slow rise, then cooked to perfection and delivered within hours. Bowery Bagels are made in North Portland by a small group of dedicated professionals and bagel lovers. They hope you enjoy them as much as they enjoyed creating them.
âIt was my first time at Bowery Bagels today and it was great. The girl at the reception was very knowledgeable and helpful. I had a bagel of everything with herb spread and it was great. The American Stumptown Cafe was great too. $ 6 for both. Not bad. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a good bagel and coffee. – Marie V.

The bagels are made without preservatives and are hand rolled and baked New York style. Its goal is to consistently deliver a high quality product, to contribute positively to the community, and to never put profits before people.
âThe menu is excellent and easy to navigate. The owner was super nice and I love that it’s in a small food truck community so there is something for everyone. My son was even happy they had hot dog bagel rolls, I will definitely recommend you check them out. The food is tasty and really a treat. – Britt S.

âSo far this is my first choice of bagels in the area. The staff are always friendly. Bagels are always delicious. A little secret is that they have bags of, what I guess are daytime bagels that are so cheap. Keep it a secret because I want more for myself. – Adam K.
Spielman Bagels & Roasters
Spielman Bagels & Roasters bakes amazing sourdough bagels and roasts shade-grown coffee in Portland. They offer a variety of vegan options and currently offer home delivery through their website. Spielman Bagels & Coffee started out as a father-son coffee roasting business in 2011. The division’s first store was opened by Rick and his son Raf Spielman. Their goal for the store was to use in-house roasting to communicate the environmental benefits of shade-grown coffee to a wider audience.
Spielman Cafe was well received, but Spielman bagels quickly overtook it. The bagel was created with a sourdough starter and then boiled to perfection. These bagels have been a huge hit since 2011. They have grown to include four Portland locations, a wholesale kitchen, and over 50 merchants in Salem and Portland. They maintain their goal of delivering unique, high-quality products to the community while embracing the aesthetic quirks that make Portland special, while continuing to grow.
âThis is the first time that my boyfriend and I have visited this place today. We just wanted coffee and bagels before going to a workshop at the Multnomah Arts Center. I ordered the whole bagel with smoked salmon schmear and it was really delicious. They put a decent amount of schmear on my bagel which I am very happy with. As new customers, we were overall very satisfied with the service provided to us. We will definitely be back if we return to this part of town. â – Angelique F.
