A couple inaugurates the venue

December 19 – HIGH POINT – Husband and wife owners of longtime restaurant business Triad expand to High Point with a new business.

Joe and Lee Staehly announce that they plan to open the Blue Heron Event Venue at 4130 Mendenhall Oaks Parkway in the first quarter of 2022.

The 7,849-square-foot building was previously occupied by Noah’s Event Venue, a national chain that closed in bankruptcy in early 2020.

The couple bought the property, which is close to their Pepper Moon Catering business in Greensboro, in October for $ 2.1 million.

“I go there almost every day and have wanted to since it went on sale,” said Lee Staehly. “It was under contract a few times, but those deals failed, so we were very lucky to get it.”

Pepper Moon Catering has hosted numerous events at the facility, which was built in 2017 on 3 acres next to a lake in the Mendenhall at Piedmont Center Business Park.

The owners plan to expand the space of the outdoor patio to enhance the view of the lake. They said the name of the place was inspired by a great blue heron that is often seen on the lake.

“Although I think it’s a tall building from an event perspective, in terms of setup it looks even better when you look out the back door,” said Joe Staehly. “It really is so peaceful and pleasant that you want more outdoor space and outdoor patio space. So we are looking at different solutions for that right now.”

In addition to the scenic views and adjacent green runs, the couple said they were drawn to the location as it will provide clients and their guests with a prime location close to shopping malls, hotels and the Piedmont International Airport. Triad.

Pepper Moon Catering, which was founded in 1996, has long been a major caterer at High Point Market and at weddings, parties and corporate events at various Triad locations.

Lee Staehly said the new site will provide the company with its own space that it will manage to accommodate its growth.

“We have just been criticized since May,” she said.

The new venue will “probably host a lot of weddings and hopefully corporate events. There are a lot of businesses there, so we hope to attract that crowd as well,” she said.
