Colonial design and amenities make this Wayanad house a masterpiece | Lifestyle decor

Dr Abubakkar’s colonial mansion in Kalpetta in the Wayanad district has become the talk of the town for its stylish features and incredible amenities. The 15-cent home was built to meet the tastes and preferences of family members. The owner has three daughters; so he wanted four bedrooms in the house. It was the owner himself who suggested the colonial theme because he wanted the home of his dreams to be unique.

The perfect symmetry of the elevation is what instantly catches the eye. The sloped roof on both sides is exactly the same. Meanwhile, the eye-catching color scheme and designer windows are some of the elements that play a central role in achieving this symmetry. The car porch was built separately so as not to spoil this design sequence. A truss roof was installed over the flat roof to make the elevation symmetrical. Meanwhile, the area under the roof could be used as a multi-utility space. The compound wall also features the same color theme to complement the main structure.

Designed over 3,000 square feet, this stunning home features a car porch, living room, formal and family living spaces, dining room, kitchen with work space, four bedrooms, an upper hall, an office area and a balcony.

The formal living room has been designed on the theme of Arabic majlis which looks opulent. In addition, this space is laid out in the hollow style, that is, a few meters below the ground level of the house. Meanwhile, a sliding glass door here provides enough privacy. From the formal living room one could enter the spacious hall where the dining room, family living space and staircase were arranged.

The double height ceiling in the dining room helps make this space incredibly spacious. Hanging lamps in warm tones, on the other hand, give a pleasant atmosphere to this space. The majestic dining table can easily accommodate up to eight guests. The folding glass door opens here onto the courtyard. The family living room is comfortable with comfortable sofas and a TV.

The pantry is compact and smartly designed. Part of the white nano worktop could also be used as a breakfast place. Stylish high chairs have been arranged here. Abubakker’s wife says this feature helps her keep tabs on her children when they are studying.

The rooms have been designed according to the tastes of each member of the family. The children’s room is nicely furnished with a bunk bed and lovely sky blue wallpaper. Storage spaces, an office space and adjoining bathrooms have also been fitted out in the bedrooms.

The family credits architect Cindu with designing such a fabulous home, complete with all modern amenities on a 15-cent plot. “The most amazing fact about this house is that every space has been designed strictly following the rules of the vastusastra. This ensures excellent cross ventilation and also fills the interiors with positive waves. In addition, this positive energy is also reflected in the mood of family members. This project brought me great personal satisfaction, ”notes Cindu.
