Over the summer months of this year, best friends and business partners Jan Long Tesnow and Heather Wilkinson Boyer closed their shop, which originally opened as East 96 Marketplace, and turned it into a new little place to dine. event in Lascassas. They gave the interior of the building a barn look by covering the walls with raw wood planks and used their design eye to give the rest of the space an inviting modern vintage farmhouse look.
East 96 was the mix of two companies, Bits of Rustic Charm and Dot and Lucy’s. The names Dot and Lucy come from the grandmothers of Tesnow and Boyer, and they took the name of that old business for the new venue, Dot and Lucy’s Event Venue.
The brick building is shaped like a small barn and is located a few miles from Murfreesboro at 4710 Lascassas Pike in Lascassas, Tennessee. There are plenty of parking spaces and the friends thought of everything when planning the new concept. As you enter the building through the front door, to the right is a spacious bar which can be used to serve food and/or refreshments. Behind there is plenty of serving space and it is right next to the fully stocked catering kitchen. Those who rent the space will be able to bring their own food or hire a licensed caterer.
“Our space includes a kitchen area with plenty of prep space,” Tesnow explained on their Facebook page, “a fridge/freezer combo, microwave, warming oven big enough for four large pots, and an electric countertop. full size 12″x20″ cook. Our bespoke bar/serving area is the perfect place to serve all dishes [for Thanksgiving]!”
Filling out the space, the venue will accommodate 12 round tables that seat eight people comfortably, or eight tables will allow space for a DJ table and a dance floor. They have several antique farmhouse style tables on wheels that can be moved around the room if needed to accommodate everything from a DJ to gifts to wedding cake or other desserts.
Noted BB Creations on Facebook, “We just had an event at Dot and Lucy’s and it was amazing. Very professional and such a great space.”
From small weddings and receptions to private meetings and parties, they offer everything their clients will need to host an extraordinary event. Their base rates are for groups of 60, with a fixed hourly rate Monday through Thursday and another for weekends, there is no charge if the number of guests is between 61 and 96, this which is their limit. They also have special wedding packages for full weddings and receptions only. Cleaning costs after the event are additional.
Rental fees include full access to 2400 square feet of indoor space with an open floor plan decorated with a beautiful chandelier and fairy lights as well as access to a bridal treatment room. The fee also includes the use of up to 12 sixty-inch round tables, up to 96 chairs, a coffee bar, men’s and women’s restrooms, and plenty of natural light streaming in through large windows.
