Ellangowan mowing shed transformed into a wedding hall | Queensland Country Life

A farmer in Darling Downs has found a new use for his old mowing shed, recently renovating it to host weddings and receptions, complete with a mowing display.

Landowner EHW Holdings filed a development application with the Toowoomba Regional Council in December for the Ellangowan wool shed, southwest of Toowoomba.

According to nspire Planning and Design’s planning report, the venue would host unique corporate weddings and receptions.

“There is a tendency, especially for weddings, to want a rural setting away from the hustle and bustle,” he said.

“Considering the rules for drunk driving and the location out of town, most of the guests will be transported by bus to the event site, reducing the impact on the road and the network. access. “

The report said the building still had three working mowing stands, could accommodate up to 250 guests, and the intention was to set up a mowing exhibit for most events.

However, the building requires the addition of an access ramp for people with disabilities.

He also said the development would help supplement farm incomes.

“[It would provide] a pleasant installation and additional income to improve the viability of the rural enterprise. “

Due to the intermittent use of the facility, the plan is to use mobile catering and amenities for each event.

While existing buildings are covered by a water tank used for firefighting and workers’ equipment, adequate water for events will be provided.

Electricity is currently available on site and mobile coverage is described as adequate.

The locality is characterized by various large plots of land with a mixture of pastures and agricultural farms conforming to rural zoning.
