The FERNHILL House Hotel has been crowned the best wedding venue in Ireland.
The family business has been recognized at the Gold Medal Awards, widely recognized as the leading independent awards program for the Irish hospitality industry.
Judged by industry experts, The Hotel & Catering Review’s Gold Medal Awards recognize and reward excellence in hospitality and catering operations across the country.
They applaud hospitality companies that achieve the highest product and service standards in the industry.
As well as winning the Wedding Venue category, Fernhill House was shortlisted in the First Green Hotel, Best Afternoon Tea and Best Country House sections.
Michael O’Neill Jnr said he was delighted with this victory: “It’s a huge achievement for us. All of the medal-winning wedding venues were historic country homes, highlighting the trend of couples wanting this look, and a wedding venue with a bit of history on their big day.
The Fernhill House Hotel has 130 weddings booked so far this year, with four to five taking place in certain weeks.
Michael said what sets them apart is their level of service: “A family member is always on duty for each of our weddings.”
The bronze medal in the Chef of the Year category was awarded to the head chef of the Blue Haven Hotel in Kinsale Meeran Manzoor.
