Inside Topgolf Thailand: Bangkok’s newest, biggest and coolest sports and entertainment venue is more than just a golf course

By now you may have heard rumors of the new Topgolf site opening near Mega Bangna (making it the first Topgolf in Southeast Asia), or even seen the huge room from the outside on your last IKEA trip. So when the good folks at Topgolf invited us to see even After of what is without a doubt one of Bangkok’s hottest hangout spots, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

First, let’s dispel a misconception that even we originally had: If you imagine Topgolf as another golf course for your dad and his golf buddies, erase that image immediately. Despite its name, Topgolf is way more than golf. It does a lot (which we’ll talk more about in a second) well or, shall we say, top notch – and while it obviously incorporates golf elements into its various offerings, it’s not a strict golf-only venue and focuses more on a laid-back experience that can be fun for everyone.

Games for golfers and non-golfers

One of Topgolf’s stars is the strike zone, which has 102 bays on three levels. Here’s how it works: you have your own private bay (each can accommodate up to six players, and larger groups are encouraged to make reservations in advance) where you can order food and drinks directly to your seats while choosing from the wide range of Topgolf. Games. All golf clubs are provided, and the cool part is that as you hit real microchipped golf balls into giant LED-lit targets spread across a huge outfield, whatever game you choose will be played on your bay screen. . There are virtual golf courses for those who want to go the traditional route, as well as non-golf options like Jewel Jam and Angry Birds (a great choice for groups of kids). Think of it as VR, but without the clunky headset.

Feeding frenzy

For us, the most surprising aspect of Topgolf Thailand – and what really sets them apart from other golf venues – was the number of restaurants under one roof: five, to be precise, including the aforementioned venues. hit the berries. You know how many sports venues serve soggy french fries and overpriced, under-seasoned sodas? Yes, there is none of that here. We’ll give you a quick tour, but really, you have to check each one out for yourself because the restaurants alone are worth a visit.

First, there is the Pink Giraffe Rooftop Bar, which overlooks the huge lighted outfield; the cuisine is “cali-Japanese,” so consider appetizers and unique sushi-style canapes while sipping a signature cocktail as the sun sets. For something a little more intimate, head to The Devil’s Lounge, a low-key wine and whiskey bar that serves charcuterie and fresh pastas as well as an extensive selection of over 60 wines and whiskeys. Athletes will feel at home when signing Topgolf sports bar, which is embellished with a 550-inch (7 mx 4 m) central screen and 15 HD televisions spread over its two 13-meter-long bars; the atmosphere is loud and fun and has the flavor of all your favorite hearty American classics (which are best enjoyed with the 12 beers on tap, obviously) – basically everything a sports bar should be. And finally there is the Patio, which is our favorite restaurant, mainly because of BUSTED!, the fully equipped food bus (yes, bus, not “truck”) with a huge competition-grade American-style smoker, which helps produce smoked Thai food and American barbecue classics. And even if you’re not a big barbecue fan, the Patio’s beer garden is a great place to kick back and relax over a few cold drinks.

Calling all partygoers

One of our biggest impressions of Topgolf was that it would make a really fun and unique venue for parties, including everything from children’s birthdays to weekend outings with your friends to triple dates. you. It would also be great for a special work event (think holiday parties or a company-wide milestone), or for some good old-fashioned team building as everyone reveals their side. competitive. If you really want to shake things up, you can rent a private reception room, or better yet, organize your own mini-golf tournament. Catering packages are also available, which will come in handy if your group is made up of people with various dietary restrictions.

PS Golf fans can still rejoice!

For those who want to play traditional golf, there are two options. The first is the Puttyard, an 18-hole course that can be used for putting practice or a classic game of mini-golf. And then there’s Topgolf Academy, where you can book individual or group golf lessons; all lessons are taught by a Topgolf Academy certified professional and come with unlimited golf balls, free club rentals and the use of Topgolf and their Toptracer technology are all included in the course fee.

Topgolf is set to open on August 17 and they are already taking reservations for their hitting bays via their website. We’ll see you there!
