Ramona Business Roundup: Off the Vine Dining Opens Outdoor Venue

Diners looking for an outdoor dining experience can quickly take National Route 67 to find it.

Down the street from Farmstand 67 in Ramona is a new pop-up restaurant run by owners of catering company Off the Vine Dining, Brian and Alexa Beechler.

The Ramona couple decorated their one-acre property with picnic table seats, hay bales, market lights and simple games like cornhole.

The real draw is the food, however. One of the specialties is the herbal tri-tip which has received rave reviews since the place opened in mid-October. Other items on the menu include carne asada nachos, pot roast, and American barbecue dishes.

“It’s basically an outdoor dining space,” Brian Beechler said. “It’s not really a restaurant, just a pop-up catering business. It’s like a food truck, but we’ve created an inviting place to hang out. Lots of people take out food. We just want to provide a welcoming and warm place to enjoy food if you so desire.

The as-yet-unnamed food court is open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Thursday and Friday, or while supplies last, at 16731 SR-67. The space sometimes closes for private events, so the Beechlers recommend checking out their website at offthevinedining.com or social media accounts for availability.

Off the Vine Dining has been in the restaurant business since late 2019. The Beechlers specialize in preparing meals for weddings, corporate events and fundraisers, but they decided to branch out with their latest venture. in order to get to know their neighbors in Ramona, they said.

“What better way to do that than with good food,” said Brian Beechler. “Our idea was to invite them to eat well and get to know them at the same time.”

Beechler has worked in a variety of positions in the restaurant industry for over 26 years, serving as a server, bartender, and manager of upscale wineries and restaurants. His overriding passion is food and pairing good food with good wine, he said.

The couple prepare the food in a restaurant-quality kitchen in El Cajon and bring it to their outdoor restaurant for finishing or barbecuing.

“We’ve done so many types of events that we know how to cook the meals and execute them at the end,” Brian Beechler said. “There is a lot of science behind this. Our goal is to deliver food quickly. We want our customers to get there and be served in 10 to 15 minutes, or even faster. They can quickly get a very good meal to take home.

They want to create a family friendly environment for the dogs. One of their goals is to build a fire ring where guests can make s’mores after dinner. Alexa Beechler loves to cook and wants to offer desserts such as pumpkin pies and strawberry shortcakes as well as fresh breads. Down the street, they may also offer brunch on Saturdays, they said.

Another perspective could be organizing community events for churches or schools to give back to the community, Brian Beechler said. He and his wife are currently involved in preparing food for hundreds of first responders, he said.

In fact, serving the community is where Off the Vine Dining began. Beechler said they were preparing food for their church’s worship and production team in 2019, and two months later God put it in his heart to start a catering business.

“We hope the community likes it,” he said. “I know they will enjoy the food because we put a lot of heart and time into it. We want our customers to know that our food is love for you made visible.

“I really, really love serving people and I love making food, and that’s the heart of our business.”
