Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub’s (ADCSH) magnificent Tolerance Oval has received full accreditation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) as a day/night venue, meaning the venue can host official cricket matches T20 and one-day internationals just two years after opening. .
The Tolerance Oval becomes the fourth of its kind in the country to achieve this level of ICC accreditation, alongside Dubai International Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium and its older sibling, Zayed Cricket Stadium.
As a result, ADCSH not only makes history as the world’s first cricket destination to host two such fully ICC accredited day/night ovals on the same facility, but the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) is increasing its group of facilities capable of hosting even more cricket of the highest standard.
Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub CEO Matt Boucher said: “Our vision for Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub is two-pronged; we want our incredible venue to host international events of the highest caliber while simultaneously hosting the 760,000 community sports athletes who use our facilities each year. The Tolerance Oval is a prime example of this vision, having previously hosted warm-up matches for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Indian Premier League 2021, Pakistani Super League 2021, T10 Abu Dhabi 2021, as well as the first Abu Dhabi Community Cup T20 Finale in the last 12 months.
:We also wanted the Emirates Cricket Board to have a fourth international ground to make Abu Dhabi even more capable of hosting major, multi-site global competitions and tournaments.
“By achieving ICC accreditation in such a short time, we have succeeded in doing so, and we hope that more world-class cricket will come to the country, and to Abu Dhabi as a result.”
Emirates Cricket Board Secretary General Mubashir Usmani added: “We congratulate Abu Dhabi Cricket for adding another ICC-accredited stadium to its venue and to the UAE’s world-class cricket offering. This immediately strengthens the country’s cricket product and further establishes the UAE as one of the world’s top sporting destinations, while increasing Emirates Cricket’s ability to organize and run multi-site ICC tournaments and the best franchise competitions in the world. »
The Tolerance Oval has a total of nine grass pitches and five broadcast-equipped grass wickets, with full LED floodlights and a range of training facilities which include 20 natural grass wickets in the net area international nearby.
These facilities were highly rated by ECB inspectors, with the Oval of Tolerance scoring the highest in 17 out of 29 categories in the review which was later ratified by the ICC. It was rated as very good for its pitch, outfield, training areas, locker rooms, artificial lighting, and anti-corruption unit requirements, among others.
The England men’s test team will be one of the first major international teams to use the facility after accreditation. They arrive at the Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub on November 18 for a training camp ahead of this winter’s tour of Pakistan and will face their Lions counterparts in a three-day warm-up match at Tolerance Oval from November 23. november.
