True Blue Jazz is moving its monthly First Wednesdays series from downtown Rehoboth Beach to the Nassau Valley vineyards in Lewes. The first show at the new venue will take place on Wednesday, June 1, featuring vocalist Sharon Sable performing the music of Blossom Dearie and other favorite jazz selections from The Great American Songbook. She will be accompanied by Joe Holt on piano, Steve Abshire on guitar and Tom Baldwin on bass. Tickets are $25.
The series of shows began at The Pines in Rehoboth in 2021 and resumed in April. Collaborative efforts flourished for both entities right after The Pines opened in 2018. A recent stroke of luck for independent non-profit organization True Blue Jazz brought the donation of a concert grand piano which is perfect for Nassau Valley Vineyards location. True Blue Jazz expresses its gratitude to the owners and staff of The Pines for the burgeoning period of this jazz series and other TBJ Festival events.
Monthly shows will have full bar service and dinner available. Guests can sample award-winning wines from Nassau Valley Vineyards, local craft beers and craft cocktails. Guests will have table service for the fabulous dinner menu prepared by Chef Joe Brett of Olde Shoal Catering & Food Truck. Menu items include classic Rockefeller oysters or baked oysters with Manchego cream, chorizo, lime and cilantro; ahi tuna ceviche with fresh lime juice, serrano peppers and red onion finished with coconut milk and cilantro topped with fried wonton chips; jerked ahi caesar salad with plantain croutons; minced steak with homemade fries and greens; and chicken and Iberian ham finished with a cream sauce of sherry and crab.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show is from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. truebluejazz.org.
