West Midlands-based catering company Caviar & Chips has been voted Best Wedding Caterer in the West Midlands by The Wedding Industry Awards for the third year running, and is now on its way to the national final.
The regional awards ceremony took place online on Monday, January 17, with over 900 vendors from across the UK wedding industry attending. Voting for all entrants was completed by over 23,000 customers who had experienced the services, and therefore all winners came from first-hand experience.
The wedding and events industry has suffered tremendously over the past two years due to the coronavirus, with lockdowns, restrictions and then increases in demand. Many businesses have had to close and many people have lost their jobs in a sector worth over £10billion in the UK, so the awards ceremony, which is the first to be held in person since 2019 , has been a fantastic celebration for all those successful wedding vendors.
The Caviar & Chips production kitchen is based in Aston, Birmingham, but they organize weddings and events throughout the UK.
It was founded by Jonathan Carter-Morris and Marc Hornby in 2017 while studying their MBA at Aston University. Now they are looking forward to opening their new boutique wedding venue at Stockton House, near Shifnal, this summer.
Co-founder Marc Hornby said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the region’s best wedding caterer for the third consecutive year. Despite the pandemic, we have been fortunate to grow our business quickly and with success by focusing on our customers’ experience first and foremost.
“I remember when Jonathan and I started Caviar & Chips five years ago and in our first year we hosted six weddings and events. Now we host over 100 bespoke weddings each year and we’re so lucky to have such brilliant people around We offer fantastic service and tasty food and drink This award is a testament to our dedication to constantly look after our customers in the best possible way.
Co-founder and executive chef Jonathan Carter-Morris explained how the idea for Caviar & Chips came about when he was getting married himself and just couldn’t find a caterer to create a menu that he and his fiancée wanted.
“We were looking for a caterer who would be enthusiastic about our menu ideas and help us prepare all the food and drinks we like to enjoy together,” he said.
“My wife and I love dining out and having worked in the hospitality industry myself for over 20 years, we wanted a menu that told the story of our relationship, but we really struggled to find someone who could help us, so we did it ourselves..
“It turned out to be a great menu, with five courses, matching wines, canapes and after-dinner drinks, so we made a business out of it and Caviar & Chips was born!”
Their new wedding venue Stockton House will open in June 2022 with bookings ongoing.
