Although a Murfreesboro restaurant closed in less than a year, new retail and restaurant businesses have opened and the first third-party delivery services owned by Rutherford County have spread to surrounding counties. .

Meat Tag’z 5 stars

After 21 years in the same place, 5-star Tag’z meat opened a new office at 1862 Memorial Blvd., formerly Performance Transmissions.

The new store offers 50% more space than the previous location, said owner Mike Malone.

Tag’z 5 Star Meats will remain a butcher’s shop serving hand-cut produce, table-to-table pasture, fresh seafood and branded products. But Malone intends to expand the store, possibly adding a cafe in the near future.

The new store opening hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Smyrna Crumbl

Rutherford County’s second Crumbl Cookies location is now open at 817 Industrial Blvd. in Smyrna.

Each week, Crumbl changes his menu with four different cookie specialties. Here you’ll find strawberry shortcake and chilled lime-coconut – two of Pendleton’s favorites – as well as hazelnut sea salt, rainbow cake and over three dozen more.

Chocolate chip and sugar cookies are always on the menu.

FKS kitchen

Two locations for FKS kitchen are now open at 2333 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., formerly Bee Hive Bistro, and 2124 Rock Springs Road in Smyrna.

The restaurant offers dishes cooked from scratch like meatloaf, turnip greens, fried catfish, and fried pork chops, as well as cobblers and the house specialty, banana pudding.

In addition to fast and casual dining, take out and catering are available. Call Murfreesboro at 615-410-3695 or 615-795-4363 for the Smyrna location. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Painted Tree

Painted Tree Marketplace is now open at 522 N. Thompson Lane in the Oaks Mall in Murfreesboro.

Unique handmade and curated items including gifts, fashion and home decor will be sold by over 200 vendors under one roof at the Painted Tree Marketplace.

The retail store took over the former Stein Mart space, which closed after the retail chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August 2020.

Formed in 2015, Painted Tree is home to “hundreds of different stores under one roof” with a focus on small businesses, said Charisa Rodriguez of Painted Tree.

Each booth inside the store will feature unique handmade and curated items, including gifts, fashion, home decor and more, Rodriguez said.

The hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.

Expanded home delivery

Home delivery, a third-party delivery service based in Murfreesboro, has expanded its reach to College Grove and Franklin. The delivery service, opened in 2019, covers more than 500 restaurants and employs 42 drivers. The company will deliver to any address in County Rutherford on its restaurant list. Ice cream, steak burgers

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers opened its first Nashville-area store on Thursday at 590 Sam Ridley Parkway W., just off Chaney Road.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is a fast, casual restaurant chain that serves steaks, hot dogs, and a variety of ice cream options. Popular menu items include Freddy’s Original Double “steakburger,” Chicago Dog Freddy’s Style, and Signature Turtle Sundae.

Hungry bear gone

A little over a year after opening, Hungry Bear Cheesesteak and Wings closed its doors.

Philadelphia native and avowed cheesesteak lover Vince Lanni teamed up with Curtis Deckman, who previously operated Wingstop restaurants, to open the restaurant near MTSU.

The restaurant was slated to open in February 2020, but COVID-19 has delayed plans until September.
